Medicines
As a person gets older they often have to take more medications and these might have side effects which may increase the likelihood of a person falling. Taking a number of medications or changes to a prescription can all have an effect on the body.
It is important to always speak with a medical professional if:
- There are any changes to a persons health
- Any medicine makes a person feel worse
- Someone does not want to take their medicines
- A person is unable to take medications

Diet may be affected for a person living with dementia, for example in relation to their appetite or likes and dislikes. A balanced diet may be difficult to achieve and also exposure to daylight may be reduced by spending less time outdoors. It is recommended that a person speaks with their doctor in relation to these issues as it may be possible for supplements or vitamins to be prescribed.
